Did we hear Arnold Swartzenegger saying he’ll be back somewhere in Terminator 3? I can’t remember right now, but it looks like Terminator will soon cease to be a trilogy. The forth film is well on its way to post-production and this time there won’t be any Arnold to help the good guys. However, we have Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) who stars as John Connor. Here’s the first movie trailer:
I personally expected to see a more elaborate story in T3: Rise of the Machines, but I guess the franchise might end up as a double trilogy, just like Star Wars. The fourth installment, dubbed Terminator – Salvation, is set in post-apocalyptic 2018, where John Conner has already become the leader of the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators.
During the trailer we hear Connor saying that the future he was raised to believe in was somehow altered and the human resistance might not be able to deal with the Skynet threat. Spoilers have it that the future is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
We can see some robots in the trailer, but I reckon those aren’t even T100 models. Maybe female cyborgs are going to make a comeback and we’ll see some Kristanna-like foxy ladies.
